Synthesis of Iron-Fullerene Complexes by Scattering of C60 Ions on Ferrocenyl-Undecanethiol SAM Surfaces

Abstract: In this study, we performed a mass-spectrometric study of cluster ions scattered on glass surfaces covered with ferrocene molecules under the incidence of 4.8 keV-C q+ 60 (q = 1 and 2) ions. A couple of optical flats covered with 11-ferrocenyl-1-undecanethiol self-assembled monolayer surfaces (Fc-thiol-SAMs) faced each other with a shape called a tapered planar channel (TPC) and C60 ions entered the wider opening gap. The mass and charge of each ion exiting from the narrower gap of the TPC were successfully an… Show more

“…However, the thin blue spots that appeared at the same place far from the origin were scattered Ar 2+ ion beams that had captured an electron from the cylindrical glass surfaces owing to charge-exchange collisions. 5,28,32) Figures 8(a)-8(g) show the X distributions of the transmitted ions through the CGC at various tilt angles. The origin of the X-axis was reset at the peak of the distribution, (d) θ = 0°.…”

“…Because details of the CGC and the experimental method have been described elsewhere, [26][27][28] only a brief explanation will be given here. The cylindrical glasses are optical borosilicate glass (BK7) lenses with a common curvature of 155.7 mm and a focal length of 300 mm for green light.…”
