Synthesis of Me2 TiO4 and MeFe2 O4 spinels and their use in organic alkyd resin-based anticorrosion coatings

Abstract: The anticorrosion properties of paints containing mixed metal oxide-based pigments were examined. Spinels with the cation combinations Ti-Zn-Mg or Fe-ZnMg were synthesized. Core-shell pigments with zinc oxide and magnesium oxide layers were also prepared. The pigments were synthesized from the oxides or carbonates by the high-temperature solid-phase process. The anticorrosion and physico-mechanical properties of film of paints based on an alkyd resin modified with soy oil and containing the pigments at a volum… Show more

“…It seems that there is certain intrinsic randomness with regard to size and orientation of the nanostructures and this depends on the preparation technique used and can be specific for a particular method of preparation. Until now, the anticorrosive properties of ferrites obtained by the ceramic method have been studied (Kalendova, 2000;Zubielewicz and Gnot, 2004;Kalendova and Vesely, 2008;Deya et al, 2010;Miszczyk and Darowicki, 2011;Hao et al, 2012;Kalendova et al, 2014;Benda and Kalendova, 2017;Chaudhry et al, 2017). In this work, a test of nano-sized ferrites was made and the obtained results were compared with the results for the same ferrites but obtained by the ceramic method, previously published (Miszczyk and Darowicki, 2011).…”

“…in the paper by Havlík et al (2007). Test results suggest that such pigments are promising for practical use (Emira, 2005(Emira, , 2006Havlík et al, 2007;Benda and Kalendová, 2013;Ahmed and Selim, 2010;Ahmed et al, 2014;Kalendová et al, 2014). The present paper includes the result obtained for a ferrite -ZnO -Zn-based system (ZnO -zinc oxide).…”

“…Summarizing the literature analysis, it can be concluded that the main vector of the direction associated with the use of complex oxides in the field of anticorrosive protection development is the synthesis, research and practical use of ferrite pigments. It is obvious that the factors that have influenced this choice, in addition to their high anticorrosive properties (Kalendová et al, 2015a(Kalendová et al, , 2015b) also include the iron oxides availability and low cost.…”
