Abstract:The first examples of a catalytic tandem process involving a ring-closing carbonyl-olefin metathesis and a transfer hydrogenation are described. 1,4-Cyclohexadiene has been used as H2 surrogate to reduce the cyclic alkenes formed after the metathesis step. The same NHCstabilized cationic gallium(III) complex, [IPr˙GaCl2][SbF6], performs the two steps with functional group tolerance. This reaction is stereoselective, leading either to 1,2-cis disubstituted cyclopentanes or to a variety of cyclohexanes. DFT comp… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
