Synthesis of Metalorganic Copolymers Containing Various Contorted Units and Iron(II) Clathrochelates with Lateral Butyl Chains: Conspicuous Adsorbents of Lithium Ions and Methylene Blue

Abstract: We report the synthesis of three highly soluble metalorganic copolymers, TCP1–3, that were made from a one-pot complexation of iron(II) clathrochelate units that are interconnected by various thioether-containing contorted groups. TCP1–3 were converted into their poly(vinyl sulfone) derivatives OTCP1–3 quantitatively via the selective oxidation of the thioether moieties into their respective sulfones. All of the copolymers, TCP1–3 and OTCP1–3, underwent structural analysis by various techniques; namely, 1H- an… Show more

“…On the other hand, the linear equation employed to express the Freundlich isotherm model was given as follows: normalLog .1em italicq normale = normalLog .1em italicK normalF + 1 / italicn normalLog .1em italicC normale Where q e (mg g –1 ) denotes the equilibrium uptake capacity, C e (mg L –1 ) represents the equilibrium concentration of the dye, and q m (mg g –1 ) indicates the maximum uptake capacity. K L depicts a Langmuir constant whereas the constants K F and n represent the Freundlich sorption capacity and sorption intensity, respectively …”

“…Moreover, mono- and dinuclear macrobicyclic complexes of this type with terminal donor group(s) were earlier reported to be suitable 3D-metalloligands and rigid cage monomers. They can undergo a coordination-driven assembly with appropriate metal ions or the “classical” organic coupling reactions, thus giving clathrochelate-based coordination and covalent polymers, 6 MOFs, 7 coordination capsules 8 and polynuclear complexes 9 as prospective (supra)molecular devices, and innovative porous and catalytic materials as well.…”
