Synthesis of monomeric permethylyttrocene derivatives. The crystal structures of Cp2*YN(SiMe3)2 and Cp2*YCH(SiMe3)2

Abstract: The reactions of Cp*,YCl-THF (2) with NaN(SiMe3), and LiCH(SiMe3), yield the monomeric complexes C P * , Y N (S~M~~)~ (3) and Cp*,YCH(SiMeJ, (4), respectively. The crystal structures of 3 and 4 were determined b X-ray diffraction methods. The crystals of 3 are monoclinic, space group P2,/c, with a = 11.466 (2) 1, b = 15.684 (8) A, c = 31.557 (9) A, @ = 96.36 (2)O, and 2 = 8. The structure was refined to R = 0.044. The molecular structures of this complex feature remarkably short Y-N distances (2.274 (5) and 2.… Show more

“…In the 13 C{ 1 H} NMR spectra the methyl carbons of the Cp ligand resonate between δ 11.26 and 12.00 ppm, whereas the ring carbon atom resonances appear between δ 117.32 and 120.38 ppm. These values are in similar ranges to those found in the fully characterized complexes Cp 2 YN(SiMe 3 ) 2 and Cp 2 YCH(SiMe 3 ) 2 [9], and support the normal bent metallocene structure for the chlorides.…”
