Synthesis of neodymium-iron nanoperovskite for sensing applications of an antiallergic drug

Abstract: A facile route was used for the fabrication of NdFeO 3 (NF) perovskite. The orthorhombic structure of single phase nanocrystalline NdFeO 3 perovskite was confirmed by different characterization techniques: XRD, FTIR, TEM, BET, SEM, and EDAX. The nanoperovskite was successfully used as a sensor component with a carbon paste electrode (CpE) for the determination of ketotifen in pharmaceutical formulations. Ketotifen, an antiallergic drug, is utilized for the treatment of asthma attacks, rhinitis, skin allergies,… Show more

“…Owing to their unique dielectric properties, perovskite materials such as barium titanate (BaTiO3) and calcium titanate (CaTiO3) are extensively exploited in applications such as capacitors, resonators, and electronic devices [1][2][3]. In addition to prominent dielectric properties, catalytic activity and chemical stability are also observed in perovskite materials [4]. According to Dai et al, SrTiO3 perovskite ceramics exhibited electrochemical activities with glucose oxidase.…”

“…ABO 3 nano‐perovskites offered high ionic and electronic conductivity, enhanced catalytic activity, thermal and chemical stability, variations of oxygen content, mobility of oxide ions within the crystal and electrically active structure . Lately many nanocomposites were fabricated based on NdFeO 3 , an orthorhombic distorted ABO 3 perovskite, in the electrochemical sensing of different drugs and in the simultaneous determination of hydroquinone, catechol and resorcinol . Also, an electrochemical sensor for dobutamine based on CNTs decorated with Sr 2 PdO 3 nano‐perovskite combining the features of both CNTs and nano‐perovskites was fabricated .…”
