Synthesis of Polyvinyl Alcohol/Coal Fly Ash Hybrid Nano-Fiber Membranes for Adsorption of Heavy Metals in Diesel Fuel

Abstract: Some studies have shown that the heavy metal emissions (HMEs) emitted from diesel engines can seriously threaten human health. HMEs are mainly related to the content of heavy metal ions in diesel fuel. Therefore, in order to reduce HMEs from diesel engines, a nano-fiber membrane filtration technology for diesel fuel was investigated. Herein, coal fly ash (CFA) from coal-fired power plants combined with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was successfully fabricated into nano-fibrous membranes using green electrospinning t… Show more

“…28,29 Modifying the dopant type and concentration can achieve various levels of conductivity, transforming insulating PVA into valuable semiconducting material for optoelectronic applications. [30][31][32] A novel and promising approach to achieving semiconducting properties in PVA involves the use of a dopant like Ternary Deep Eutectic Solvent (TDES) functionalized activated charcoal (TAC). Deep eutectic solvents are a class of ionic liquids that are formed by the mixture of a hydrogen bond acceptor and a hydrogen bond donor in a specific ratio to a liquid with a lower melting point compared to their starting materials.…”

“…Therefore, it has many advantages in the directional preparation of functional materials. Especially with its porous and large specific surface area characteristics, it is more conducive to contact between the adsorbent and the adsorbed material, thereby releasing its physical and chemical properties [13].…”
