Synthesis of Reduced Grapheme Oxide as A Platform for loading β-NaYF4:Ho3+@TiO2Based on An Advanced Visible Light-Driven Photocatalyst

Abstract: In this paper a novel visible light-driven ternary compound photocatalyst (β-NaYF4:Ho3+@TiO2-rGO) was synthesized using a three-step approach. This photocatalyst was characterized using X-ray diffraction, Raman scattering spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, fluorescence spectrometries, ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area measurement, electron sp… Show more

“…As can be seen, two peaks for binding energies about 160.5 eV and 162.7 eV can be deconvoluted into peaks for Ho 4d 3/2 and Ho 4d 5/2 . It can be ascribed to Ho 3+ ions that are incorporated into the structure of iron oxide nanoparticles [ 57 ]. The following band of about 153.3 eV binding energy comes from the Si 2p present in the carbon-based tape containing a small number of additives like Si-based compounds, such as siloxane.…”

“…The experimental results are similar to the literature data for iron at different oxidation states [ 51 ]. Figure 8 b presents the peaks at binding energies 160.5 eV and 162.7 eV, characteristic to Ho 3+ 4d 5/2/ and 4d 3/2 , indicating that holmium has been incorporated into the crystal lattice of iron oxide [ 52 ]. Due to the low amount of holmium in our samples, these peaks are of low intensity; therefore, their further analysis can be inaccurate.…”

“…35 In the F 1s XPS spectrum, only one intense peak at 682.8 eV corresponding to F − 1s was observed, as demonstrated in Figure 3c. 36 Additionally, the XPS spectrum shown in Figure 3d consisted of two bands, and their binding energies were approximately 1083.3 and 1109.3 eV, respectively, which were ascribed to Sm 3+ 3d 5/2 and Sm 3+ 3d 3/2 . 37 The XPS results further indirectly confirmed the successful synthesis of Sm 3+ -activated BiOF nanoparticles.…”
