Synthesis of SnS 2 nanoparticles by a surfactant-mediated hydrothermal method and their characterization

Abstract: SnS 2 nanoparticles have been synthesized using a mild hydrothermal method in the presence of the surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) at 180 • C for 12 h. Physical investigations were carried out to study their structure, size, morphology and optical properties. The x-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of the as-prepared sample is indexed to the hexagonal phase of SnS 2 and the particle size is 100 nm, which is further confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The UV-visible spectrum shows that the a… Show more

“…SnS 2 nanosheets (~1.2 mg cm −2 ) were uniformly grown onto 3DG through a facile solvothermal synthesis process where surfactant (SDS), was used to reduce the size of the nanosheet (Fig. 1c)3132. This creates a denser loading of SnS 2 on 3DG (Figure S1, see Supporting Information).…”

“…At higher loads of magnesium particle, the nanocomposite can block some active sites and reduce the effectiveness of the active phases. 24,26 Thus, an optimal combination of magnesium and surfactant Ti-M-S1 (1%) would be most effective in optimizing the removal efficiencies of MB and MO dyes.

“…Complete gelation was then achieved by placing the sol-containing solution in an oven at 80℃ for 12 h. Subsequently, the wet gel was dried overnight at 100℃ under atmospheric pressure to obtain the zero gel. The dried zero gel material was calcined at 500℃ for 3 h to remove the surfactant, 24 consequently producing the desired Ti-M-S1 and Ti-M-S2 mixed-metal nanocomposites for SDS and Triton X-100 surfactant-aided synthesis, respectively.…”
