Synthesis of some new C-nucleosides by used l-arabinose and d-glucose

Abstract: The reaction of L-arabinose with malonitrile yielded oxazoline 1, which on reaction with thioglycolic acid and acetyl chloride afforded the 4-oxothiazolyl β-L-arabinfurano oxazoline (2) and 1-cyanomethylcarboxamido-2-chloro-β-L-arabinose (3), respectively. The reaction of compound (1) with benzaldehyde led to the formation of oxazoline (4), which was reacted with cyanoacetamide to give compound (5). After treatement of glucose with phenylhydrazine, the compound was reacted with diethylmalonate to give the pyra… Show more

“…L-arabinose is the critical agent in the synthesis of antiviral drug clevudine (Choung et al, 2012) and telbivudine (Jia et al, 2014;Li et al, 2014), which are potent anti-hepatitis B (HBV) agents. It also has great usage in tumor therapy (Loessner et al, 2007;Jeong et al, 2014;Kaluzhny et al, 2009) and chemistry (Yamauchi & Kinoshita, 2001;EL-Farargy & Ghonium, 2008) and biology fields (Becker & Boles, 2003;Jeon et al, 2010). Although it has been known for a long time, the solubility and metastable zone width of L-arabinose in aqueous solution have not been reported before.…”

“…In fact, corncob is an important raw material 2 of 9 for producing pentose [3], hydroxymethylfurfural [4], ethanol [5], xylitolp [6], levulinic acid [7], formic acid and acetic acid [8], etc. These products are highly applicable in various fields including food, medicine [9,10], and fine chemicals [11,12]. However, due to production costs and technical restrictions, large majority of corncobs are still incinerated, giving rise to huge waste of resources and severe environmental problems.…”
