Synthesis of the bicyclic butenolide core of pallamolide A: a biomimetic approach

Abstract

This paper presents an efficient 10-step synthesis of the core framework of pallamolide A. The bicyclo[2.2.2]octane and spiro γ-butenolide core was constructed in a novel, biomimetic, three-step one-pot transformation.
