We have studied experimental and theoretical fusion reactions for compound nuclei that were
synthesized by different projectile-target systems among which at least one projectile/target
nuclei are spherical nuclei. The first part of this study analyses the fusion cross sections obtained
using different projectile-target combinations in the synthesis of Polonium(Po), Thorium(Th)
and Nobelium(No). The second part of this work suggests the fusion reaction to synthesize
the superheavy element Z=122. We have selected three nuclei as Polonium(Po), Thorium(Th),
and Nobelium(No) which were synthesized by various projectile-target combinations. We also
investigated fusion reactions such as 90Zr(208Pb,2n)296122 . This study may be a milestone in the
synthesis of superheavy element Z=122.
