“…Water soluble non-aggregated porphyrin-β-cyclodextrin tetraconjugate can encapsulate Na[RuCl 4 (DMSO) 2 ] molecule, which is used as a model of the anticancer drug NAMI-A. 69 Zhang et al have reported a supramolecular PS based on the tetra dimer of permethyl-β-cyclodextrin and adamantane functionalized porphyrin, which self-assembles into nanoparticles with an alternating structure, decreasing the aggregation of porphyrins and resulting in improved water solubility, particularly, higher singlet oxygen production and PDT efficiency. The water solubility of the PSs is enhanced by the porphyrin/cyclodextrin alternating structure of supramolecular PSs inhibiting the aggregation-induced quenching of porphyrin PSs.…”
