Synthesis of zeolite from multilayer food packing and sugar cane bagasse ash for CO2 adsorption

Abstract: The X/A zeolite crystal mixtures were synthesized using sugar cane bagasse ash (SCBA) as a silicon source and multilayer food packing (MFP) as an aluminum source under hydrothermal conditions at 80 °C for 79–296 hours.

“…During interaction the formation of linear OCO–X + complexes (where X + = Na + ) take place, which is also involved in the perturbation of Si–O–Al bonds. 64 As reported by Coluccia S. et al 65 zeolitic supercages made the molecules to linearly coordinate with X + cations (Lewis acidity), and also numerous types of carbonate-like species interact in intricate ways which has also been reported by several other researchers like Martra, G. et al 66 and Montanari, T. and Busca G. 67 …”

“…Consequently, sodium silicate solution, with a minimal environmental impact, is being investigated as a versatile precursor for various silica products including construction materials, [10][11][12] porous silica, [13][14][15][16][17] and aluminosilicate zeolites. [18][19][20][21][22] In our previous study, we successfully synthesized diverse porous silica products, specifically mesoporous silica (MPS). 17,[23][24][25] MPS is intriguing due to its remarkable adsorption and separation properties, with a high specific surface area and tunable pore size distribution.…”

“…Besides environmental protection, the use of industrial wastes as a silicon source to produce materials may add value to these wastes, enabling the development of new procedures for the recovery of chemical elements from wastes and reuse. In previous studies, SCBA was used as an alternative source of silicon to synthesize microporous and mesoporous materials, , and applied to organic reactions, such as α-amine phosphonates synthesis …”
