In this research, an improved approach for recycling silicon chemical compounds from agro-industry solid waste (sugar cane bagasse ash) was demonstrated. Response surface methodology (RSM), a statistical model, was used to optimize the procedure of silicon extraction by alkaline fusion. RSM and the experimental results demonstrated that the best conditions for alkaline fusion are a fusion time of 40 min, fusion temperature of 550 °C, and alkali:ash ratio of 1.0. The agro-industry solid waste was used as a silicon source to obtain SBA-15 materials with different hydrothermal synthesis times at 0, 6, 18, and 66 h. Furthermore, the textural properties, such as the pore size and specific surface area, could be tuned in the ranges of 424− 722 m 2 •g −1 and 4.2−5.1 nm, respectively. This work contributes to research on environmentally friendly materials, and provides guidance on using other wastes for chemical recycling.
