Equipment scaling leads to reduced production efficiency in a wide range of industrial applications worldwide. Various antiscaling agents are currently commonly used to mitigate this problem. However, irrespective of their long and successful application in water treatment technologies, little is known about the mechanisms of scale inhibition, particularly the localization of scale inhibitors on scale deposits. The lack of such knowledge is a limiting factor in the development of applications for antiscalants. Meanwhile, fluorescent fragments integrated into scale inhibitor molecules have provided a successful solution to the problem. The focus of this study is, therefore, on the synthesis and investigation of a novel fluorescent antiscalant: (2-(6-morpholino-1,3-dioxo-1H-benzo[de]isoquinolin-2(3H)yl)ethylazanediyl)bis(methylenephosphonic acid) (ADMP-F) which is an analog of the commercial antiscalant: aminotris(methylenephosphonic acid) (ATMP). ADMP-F has been found to effectively control the precipitation of CaCO3 and CaSO4 in solution and is a promising tracer for organophosphonate scale inhibitors. ADMP-F was compared with two other fluorescent antiscalants—polyacrylate (PAA-F1) and bisphosphonate (HEDP-F)—and was found to be highly effective: PAA-F1 > ADMP-F >> HEDP-F (CaCO3) and PAA-F1 > ADMP-F > HEDP-F (CaSO4·2H2O). The visualization of the antiscalants on the deposits provides unique information on their location and reveals differences in the “antiscalant-deposit” interactions for scale inhibitors of different natures. For these reasons, a number of important refinements to the mechanisms of scale inhibition are proposed.

In the 21st century, businesses face high competition and volatility and must cope with changing quality standards and levels. Efficiency and effectiveness are crucial to success, and companies must deal with rising handling and operational costs. Many companies have implemented inventory management practices to address these challenges, which help optimize operations and reduce resource wastage, especially in inventory handling. Inventory management is particularly important in the animal feed industry, where inventory handling makes up 80% of all operations, and 90% of core activities involve inventory handling. Therefore, a study was conducted on 24 animal feed-producing companies to determine the impact of inventory management practices on operational performance. Data was collected using a questionnaire and study guide and analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression. The study shows a significant correlation between operational performance and EOQ (p = 0.003), JIT (p = 0.05), and MRP (p = 0.04). However, the study had some limitations, including focusing only on four inventory management practices, despite a large pool of available practices and excluding the entire supply chain from consideration. Therefore, the study recommends further research into a wider range of inventory management practices and including the entire supply chain in future studies.

Animal feed manufacturing companies in Kenya have long been shrouded in mystery regarding their operational practices. The article delved into the secrets of successful animal feed manufacturing companies in Kenya in this groundbreaking research. The study examined how inventory management practices impact operational performance in the animal feed industry and aimed to uncover the inventory management practices used by the companies. A sample of 24 companies was selected using a reliable, simple random sampling method from a population of 79 companies. Both primary and secondary data were collected using a structured questionnaire, and descriptive statistics were employed for analysis. The study's results revealed some fascinating insights into the inventory management practices employed by animal feed manufacturers in Kenya. Just-In-Time and Economic Order Quantity were the most widely used inventory management practices, adopted by 28.1% and 26.6% of companies, respectively. Many companies also implemented Vendor Management Inventory and Material Requirement Planning at 23.4% and 21.9%, respectively. The study's most significant takeaway was that effective inventory management practices can significantly improve the operational performance of animal feed manufacturing companies. By adopting these practices, companies can enhance their production processes, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency. The research provides valuable insights applicable to Kenya and other animal feed manufacturing industries. The study was a groundbreaking contribution to the body of knowledge on inventory management practices and their impact on operational performance. The findings provided vital information for animal feed manufacturers in Kenya and offered valuable lessons for companies in similar industries worldwide. By embracing effective inventory management practices, companies can gain a competitive edge, achieve optimal production levels, and streamline operations.
