Synthesis, Spectroscopic, and Biological Studies of Chromium(III), Manganese(II), Iron(III), Cobalt(II), Nickel(II), Copper(II), Ruthenium(III), and Zirconyl(II) Complexes of N1,N2-Bis(3-((3-hydroxynaphthalen-2-yl)methylene-amino)propyl)phthalamide

Abstract: (6), the distance between the two copper centers was calculated using field zero splitting parameter for the parallel component that was estimated from the ESR spectrum. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of the compounds showed that, some of metal complexes exhibited a greater inhibitory effect than standard drug as tetracycline (bacteria) and Amphotricene B (fungi).

“…These bands are associated with the octahedral structures (Gup and Kirkan, 2005). This information with the effective magnetic moment (µeff) data (Table 3) of all complexes helped to support the suggested octahedral geometry (Al-Hakimi et al, 2011;Fouda et al, 2008). Table 3.…”

“…The magnetic measurements for Cr (III), Mn (II), and Fe (III) complexes give their magnetic moment values of 3.55, 5.10, and 5.3 BM, respectively, suggesting consistency with their octahedral environment. [ 40,41 ]…”

“…The Cu 2+ complexes (2)(3)(4)(5) show  eff values in the 1.70-1.75 BM range which are compatible with one unpaired electron Cu 2+ in octahedral environmental [24]. Ni 2+ complex (6) shows  eff value 2.85 BM which is compatible with two unpaired electrons system of octahedral Ni 2+ complex [42]. Co 2+ complex (7) shows value 3.98 BM, indicating a high spin Co 2+ complex [43].…”
