“…The pattern g // > g ⊥ > 2 observed in table 1 for both compounds is consistent with the geometry of the copper ion sites suggesting a d(x 2 -y 2 ) ground orbital state, 43 as observed for other ternary compounds contaning copper and phenanthroline or other aromatic ligands. 21,44,45 Following ideas described previously, 46 the eigenvalues of the crystal g 2 matrices were used to obtain the molecular g-values for sites A and B and the angle between their apical directions, which are included in table 1. together with the crystallographic angles.…”

“…A survey of the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD, version 5.43; update of June 2022; Groom et al, 2016) revealed that crystal structures had been reported for complexes of 3-methoxy cinnamic acid derivatives and a number of metal ions, including copper (Drew et al, 1994), cadmium (Zhang et al, 2013), tin (Su et al, 2022), cerium, neodymium, europium, gadolinium (Khalfaoui et al, 2017(Khalfaoui et al, , 2021 and dysprosium (Khalfaoui et al, 2018(Khalfaoui et al, , 2017. Only one complex based on copper and 2,5-dimethoxycinnamic acid with 2,9-dimethyl-1,l0-phenanthroline has been reported (Battaglia et al, 1991). However, no complexes containing only the cobalt ion and 3-methoxy cinnamic acid associated with 1,10-phenanthroline have been documented in the CSD.…”
