Synthesis, spectroscopic characterization and DNA binding studies of Cu(II) complex of Schiff base containing benzothiazole moiety

Abstract: A Schiff base ligand L has been synthesized by the condensation of thiophene-2-carbaldehyde and 2-amino-6-methylbenzothiazole. It has been characterized by elemental analysis, Infrared (IR), 1 H NMR and mass spectrometry. Copper (II) complex, ML 2 has been synthesized by the reacting ligand L and Copper (II) acetate in 2:1 molar ratio. The Cu(II) complex was characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, electronic spectrum, IR and electronic paramagnetic resonance spectrum. TGA has been done to check… Show more

“…Researchers were drawn to benzothiazole derivatives because of their wide range of biological activity Researchers have been drawn to schiff base because of its wide spectrum of pharmacological actions, which include antibacterial and antioxidant properties The activity of benzothiazoles against MCF-7 breast cancer cell lines is well-recognized. The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) 4 is well-known for its high levels of expression, malignancies of the breast, colon, and bladder. Several researches has shown that the benzothiazole moiety and its derivatives can create the uncommon and important lead chemical.…”
