Synthesis, structural and Raman spectroscopic in organic−inorganic halide perovskites based on β-Alanine

Abstract: The amino acid copper chlorides [NH3C2H4CO2H]2 CuCl4 is a new member of the family of organicinorganic hybrid like perovskite system. This compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with unit cell parameters a = 25.1209(3) Å, b = 7.7432(2) Å, c = 7.4130(2) Å, β = 105.293(2)° and Z = 4. The molecule formula consists of a combination of [CuCl4] 2anions and two twisted organic [NH3(CH2)2CO2H] + cations to form a two-dimensional perovskite system. Three dimensional hydrogenbonding network is assuring… Show more

“…However, there are several examples based on aliphatic, linear amino acids in lead halide systems and two examples in copper chloride systems. The present structure can therefore be usefully compared with the already known structures [NH 3 (CH 2 ) 2 COOH] 2 CuCl 4 and [NH 3 (CH 2 ) 3 COOH] 2 CuCl 4 , containing two 3-aminopropanoic acid and 4-aminobutanoic acid cations, respectively. , These are shown in Figure . The 3-aminopropanoic acid analogue is the most similar, structurally, also crystallizing in the monoclinic space group C 2/ c , with unit cell metrics at 293 K: a = 25.1209(3) Å, b = 7.7432(2) Å, c = 7.4130(2) Å, β = 105.293(2)°.…”

“…In this regard, a huge number of new HP compositions have been formed using biomolecules including but not limited to alanine, 64,121,122 3-aminobutyric acid, 123 4-aminobutyric acid (GABA), 124,125 5-aminovaleric acid and its derivatives, 122,126–128 cysteine, 129 glycine, 130 histidine, 129 leucine, 122 lysine, 65,131 ornithine, 131 phenylethylamine, 126,132–137 proline, 138 and taurine. 129 While a few of the examples listed above represent novel ABX 3 HPNCs, the vast majority represent novel 2D perovskite layered structures.…”

“…61–63 In addition, biomolecules have been directly incorporated into the crystal structure of HPs to improve a variety of properties. 64,65 While OA is technically a biomolecule (a fatty acid), it still suffers from the same drawbacks previously mentioned with long-chain, hydrophobic ligands. As such, it is clear that not all biomolecules are inherently better-suited than synthetic molecules for use in HPNCs development.…”

“…[10] The C3À N1 bond length (1.484(4) Å) is, due to the protonation, slightly longer than a formal CÀ N bond (1.47 Å) [10] and in accordance with reported CÀ NH 3 + bond lengths. [11,12] The bond angles around the acyl fluoride moiety are in the range between 111.9(3)°(F1À C1À C2) and 128.8(4)°(O1À C1À C2). The molecule skeleton spans an dihedral angle of 66.2(4)°( C1À C2À C3À N1).…”

“…This vibration is red-shifted by approximately 165 cm À 1 compared to the neutral compound. [23] As β-alanine turned out to be a nitrogen base and the N-protonated species is already known, [12] this shift indicates a second protonation on the oxygen. The ν(CN) vibration, which occurs at 856 (IR) and 858 cm À 1 (Ra), shows the same trend, with a red-shift of about 194 (IR) and 192 cm À 1 (Ra).…”
