Synthesis, Structure and Magnetic Properties of Two Cobalt(II) Dicyanamide (dca) Complexes with Heterocyclic Nitrogen Donors Tetra(2‐pyridyl)pyrazine (tppz) and 2,4,6‐Tri(2‐pyridyl)‐1,3,5‐triazine (tptz): [Co2(tppz)(dca)4]·CH3CN and [Co(tptz)(dca)(H2O)](dca)

Abstract: Two new transition metal dicyanamide complexes [Co2(tppz)(dca)4]·CH3CN (1) [tppz=tetra(2‐pyridyl)pyrazine, dca=dicyanamide] and [Co(tptz)(dca)(H2O)](dca) (2) [tptz=2,4,6‐tri(2‐pyridyl)‐1,3,5‐triazine] were synthesized and characterized by single crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. In 1 each cobalt(II) atom is coordinated to three dca anions and one tppz molecule to form a distorted octahedral geometry, the neigbour two cobalt(II) atoms are bridged by one tppz ligand to form a dimer, then the cobalt(II) atoms i… Show more

“…Crystal complex 2 was prepared by 1 mmol EuCl 3 , 1 mmol TPTZ and 1 mmol HTTA, but the composition of Crystal complex 2 was [Eu(TPTZ)(CF 3 COO)(H 2 O) 5 ]·Cl 2 ·CH 3 CH 2 OH, which indicated that the ligand TTA decomposed into CF 3 COO under120 • C and 72 h. In Crystal complex 4, TPTZ coordinates with Yb ions through three nitrogen atoms of the center ring and the pyridyl ring, and the other nitrogen atoms could not coordinate with more Yb ions. However, one TPTZ may coordinate with two monovalent or bivalent transition metal ions [47][48][49]. This may be because, after coordination between TPTZ and Yb ions, trivalent Yb ions attract more electrons of TPTZ, resulting in lower electron density in other nitrogen atoms.…”

“…The chemistry of cobalt(II) complexes with O-and Ndonor ligands has been extensively studied and it was found to have diverse properties [1,7,20,30,32]. Some of the complexes have been shown to possess antitumor properties [33], as well as antimicrobial activity against resistant microbial strains [12,34,35].…”
