Synthesis, structures and properties of metal–organic frameworks prepared using a semi-rigid tricarboxylate linker

Abstract: A series of MOFs constructed from 5-((carboxymethyl)amino)isophthalic acid (H3cmai) have been prepared and characterised, with [Cd3(cmai)2(H2O)4]·4H2O demonstrating loss of water in a single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformation.

“…The bond length distances of Zn-O range from 1.924 to 2.279 Å, which is consistent with the normal distances of the Zn-O bond length. [46][47][48][49][50][51][52][53] Zn1 and Zn2 are bridged by the O6 atom, while Zn2 and Zn3 are linked with O3W. So a trinuclear metal cluster composed of Zn(II) ions (Zn1, Zn2 and Zn3) is obtained (Fig.…”

“…Especially, the ternary carboxylic acids are often used in complex formation due to their unique spatial shock and electron configuration. [20][21][22] For example, the 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H 3 btc) reacts with Zn(II) to form a porous Zn-HKUST-1 complex Zn 3 (btc) 2 with large cells and low accessible porosity. The Zn 2 (COO) 4 paddle wheel clusters are connected by ligands to create a tbo network topology with (3,4) connections, which endows Zn-HKUST-1 unique properties.…”
