Synthetic RR Lyrae velocity curves

Abstract: An amplitude correlation between the pulsational velocity curves and visual light curves of ab-type RR Lyrae stars is derived from a large number of RR Lyraes that have high-precision radial-velocity and photometric data. Based on the determined A v ,A V relation, a synthetic radialvelocity curve for a typical ab-type RR Lyrae star is constructed. TÍiis would be of particular use in determining the systemic velocities of RR Lyraes.

“…M5-V8, on the other hand, shows only very weak traces of such a dip, although a similar bump is present in the visual light curve for this star. “…In this paper we reexamine the light change variations of Blazhko stars utilizing the A V -A v rad relation, compare the measured and calculated [Fe/H] values (Jurcsik & Kovács 1996) at different Blazhko phases, and measure the compatibility of the light curves with that of normal RRab stars using the interrelations between the Fourier parameters (Kovács & Kanbur 1998) Liu (1991) provides the opportunity and also makes it necessary to refine the positions of Blazhko variables on this diagram. In order to do so, the literature was searched for radial velocity measurements of known Blazhko variables.…”

“…Liu (1991) has found that, in contrast with the large diversity of the shapes of the light curves, the shapes of the available sample of RRL RV curves is relatively stable; actually only their amplitudes are scaled according to the amplitude of the light curve. The Fourier parameters of the V light-curves and the RV curves of stable RRab stars in M3 are compared in Fig.…”
