“…In 2003, Li et al described 4 “collision” lesions of SCAP and verrucous cysts . In the current study, we have identified an additional 9 cases of sporadic SCAP that appear to have contiguous verrucous proliferations indistinguishable from viral warts.…”

“…Recently, we encountered a peculiar case of a sporadic SCAP occurring on the right areola of a male patient, which on histology appeared to arise in association with an endophytic wart. On review of the literature, there have been only a handful of isolated cases with explicit descriptions of SCAP arising in contiguity with verruca . However, after more careful review, we were able to identify multiple other published cases of SCAP which lacked explicit mention of this association, but nevertheless showed these changes in the published images .…”

“…It is unclear whether SCAP is apocrine or eccrine derived because of the conflicting results of light and electron microscopic studies and histochemical analysis. 3 Other benign lesions associated with SCAP include tubular apocrine adenoma, 16 trichoblastoma, 17 tubulopapillary hidradenoma, 18 verrucous cyst, 19 verrucous carcinoma, 20 ductal carcinoma, 21 trichilemmoma, 22 condyloma acuminatum, 23 and apocrine cystadenoma. Alternatively, SCAP may originate from mutations in pluripotent stem cells, 8 which may explain the association of SCAP with numerous neoplasms and hamartomas.…”

“…SCAP is found most commonly in association with naevus sebaceus (up to 40%). 3 Other benign lesions associated with SCAP include tubular apocrine adenoma, 16 trichoblastoma, 17 tubulopapillary hidradenoma, 18 verrucous cyst, 19 verrucous carcinoma, 20 ductal carcinoma, 21 trichilemmoma, 22 condyloma acuminatum, 23 and apocrine cystadenoma. 24 Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) also may be juxtaposed with SCAP in as many as 9% of cases.…”
