Aufgrund des Zustands der Brücken und der stetig steigenden Verkehrsbelastung ergibt sich neben dem Ersatzneubau ein enormer Bedarf an tragfähigkeitsrelevanten Brückenverstärkungen. Daher müssen die zur Verfügung stehenden finanziellen Mittel für die Erhaltung des Brückenbestands und zur Aufrechterhaltung einer funktionsfähigen Infrastruktur effizient und effektiv im Rahmen eines Erhaltungsmanagements eingesetzt werden. Der hier vorgestellte Ansatz zur Ermittlung des grundsätzlichen Verstärkungsbedarfs von Massivbrücken liefert eine weitere Komponente für die Entscheidungsfindung, welche Brückenkategorien einer Verstärkung bedürfen und welche Brücken hinsichtlich einer Verstärkung als eher unkritisch angesehen werden können. Die Ermittlung erfolgt dabei auf der Grundlage von Methoden der Risikobewertung und auf der Basis von realen Schadensdaten an Überbauten von etwa 1.240 Massivbrücken im Zuge der Bundesfernstraßen. Die Risikobewertung erfolgte zum einen anhand von Ausmaß‐Häufigkeits‐Diagrammen unter Berücksichtigung von Risikomatrizen, zum anderen anhand von Risikozahlen, jeweils getrennt für die Bewertungsmerkmale der Standsicherheit und der Dauerhaftigkeit.

In bridge engineering, maintenance strategies and thus budgetary demands are highly influenced by construction type and quality of design. Nowadays bridge owners and planners tend to include life-cycle cost analyses in their decision processes regarding the overall design trying to optimize structural reliability and durability within financial constraints. Smart permanent and short term monitoring can reduce the associated risk of new design concepts by observing the performance of structural components during prescribed time periods. The objectives of this paper are the discussion and analysis of influence line or influence field approaches in terms of (a) an efficient incorporation of monitoring information in the structural performance assessment, (b) an efficient characterization of performance indicators for the assessment of structures, (c) the ability of optimizing the positions of sensors of a monitoring system, and (d) the ability of checking the robustness of the monitoring systems applied to a structure. The proposed influence line-model correction approach has been applied to an integrative monitoring system that has been installed for the performance assessment of an existing three-span jointless bridge.

Structural Reliability Assessment of Damaged Reinforced Concrete Bridges on the Basis of the Results from a Bridge InspectionThe regular bridge inspection is of high importance for the reliable use of the infrastructure. This paper describes and explains a method with supports the engineers of a bridge inspection in the assessment of the damaged bridges during or directly after the inspection. Based on this initial estimate the urgent measures i.e. a lower permitted bridge class can still be carried out before more detailed inspections and calculations have been done. The reliability analyses for the damaged bridges are carried out using first order and second order reliability method (FORM and SORM). The probability of failure, p f or the safety index ‚ of the system respectively are the main results of the calculation procedure. This paper shows the approach and the application with an example. Particularly in the communal sector the method can be helpful, because it can not be assumed that in all cases the regular bridge inspections and the appropriate maintenance have been carried out.
