Foram utilizados os descritores e operadores booleanos "social skills" AND "training" AND "substance-related disorders". Abstract. Literature describes that drug users have low scores in social skills and that these can be developed by the Social Skills Training (SST). However, they need systematizations about such intervention in the national and international contexts. Thus, the objective of his paper is to identify empirical studies on SST for drug users in treatment, analyzing how the intervention has been used, benefits and possible limitations of its application with this population. This study is a systematic review of literature on Medline Complete, Scopus, IBECS, Index Psi and LILACS. The descriptors and boolean operators "social skills" AND "training" AND "substance-related disorders" were used. There were included five articles that contemplated the inclusion criteria: empirical article, having as target people with disorder by substance use and who have used SST in the treatment for drug use. It was observed that interventions have been performed to complement other techniques, being beneficial to the increase of social skills of drug users. However, most studies did not show results that were unique to the THS, Treinamento em habilidades sociais para usuários de drogas: revisão sistemática da literatura

A test was conducted of a supplemental skills training and social-network-development aftercare program with 130 drug abusers from four residential therapeutic communities. The intervention produced positive effects on subjects' performance at the conclusion of treatment. Performance improved in situations involving avoidance of drug use, coping with drug relapse, social interaction, interpersonal problem solving, and coping with stress.
Drug abuse is associated with loss of social skills by drug users. The literature review revealed a strong need for social skills training as a strategy to assist in psychosocial rehabilitation. However, few studies to date have evaluated the results of social skills training in therapeutic communities (type of treatment often used for drug users). Therefore, the aim of the present study is to describe the results of a pilot study regarding the social skills training of drug users under treatment. This is a quasi-experimental pilot study, with pre-and post-tests and followup. The following assessment instruments were used for data collection: Questionnaire on Sociodemographic Data and Drug Abuse; Multidimensional Scale of Social Expression; Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale, and The World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment. The social skills training led to a significant increase in the skills of making refusals and expressing negative affect, quality of life (psychological domain), and a significant decrease in depressive symptoms and quality of life (environment domain). The high rate of intervention adherence (81.25%; n = 13) is indicative of the benefits from therapeutic community treatment and justifies the need for further empirical research, especially in terms of protocol development.
