“…28 Others stated that in approximately 44% there exists at least one tributary which enters the CFV directly. 29 We can confirm this aspect with these data as we have found at least one minor tributary in the SFA in 57%. Furthermore, experienced researchers have found at least one tributary of the CFV in 40% in a series of 600 legs during varicose vein surgery even though the deep and posterior tributaries of the CFV could not be well explored (M. Lefebvre-Vilardebo, abstracts of UIP congress Rio 1999, unpublished data).…”

“…Numerous anatomic variations of GSV and SFJ have been described in the literature, such as hypoplasia, duplication, ectasia, and different tributary veins. 1,2 They may be challenging for radiologists and clinicians, and should be searched for and reported to ensure proper surgical management. In this case series, we describe a rare SFJ variation with an approximate prevalence of 3 per 10 000.…”

“…Routine use of ultrasound is one of the major factors contributing to the success of endovascular techniques by increasing anatomical precision. However, the anatomy of the saphenofemoral junction (SFJ) has been shown to be quite heterogeneous with vein duplications, bifid junctions, or ectasia present in over 10% of individuals [3]. These findings indicate that ultrasound assessments should be performed prior to a surgical or EVA procedure and suggest that HLS, if performed correctly, may be more efficient than EVA at removing different anatomical variants of the SFJ.…”
