Tabrizicola algicola sp. nov. isolated from culture of microalga Ettlia sp.

Abstract: A novel Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-spore-forming, non-motile, and rod-shaped bacterium, strain ETT8T was isolated from a chemostat culture of microalga Ettlia sp. YC001. Optimal growth was with 0–2% NaCl and at 25–37 °C on R2A medium. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene and genome sequence showed that strain ETT8T belongs to the genus Tabrizicola , with the close neighbours being … Show more

“…Comparisons with the 16S rRNA gene sequences in the EzBioCloud database indicated that the isolated bacterium represented a member of the family Rhodobacteraceae . The highest level of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity occurred with Tabrizicola alkalilacus DJC T [22] (96.76%) and Tabrizicola piscis K13M18 T [23] (96.76%), followed by Tabrizicola algicola ETT8 T [24] (96.74%), Tabrizicola sediminis DRYC-M-16 T [25] (96.69%), Tabrizicola oligotrophica [26] (96.67%), Rhodobacter sediminicola JA983 T [27] (96.62%), Tabrizicola aquatica RCRI19 T [28] (96.47%) , Cereibacter johrii JA192 T [6, 29] (96.18%), Cereibacter sphaeroides ATH 2.4.1 T [6, 30] (96.11%) , Cypionkella collinsensis 4 T-34 T [6, 31] (96.11%) and Cypionkella psychrotolerans PAMC 27389 T [6, 32] (96.11%).…”

“…S2). So far motility has not been observed in the genus Tabrizicola [22–26, 28, 48; ]. Motility has not been detected in other genera ( Cypionkella , Fertoeibacter, Paracoccus ) of the family Rhodobacteraceae as well ().…”

“…Phylogenetic analyses revealed the affiliation of both novel strains HSP-20 T and CCP-1 T with the genus Rhodobacter , and they were distinctively separated from the genera Tabrizicola , Haematobacter , Xinfangfangia and Gemmobacter . Although the two novel strains had many similar characteristics to the four genera, their colony colours such as dark red or pink, physiological characteristics such as mesophile or neutrophile and the photosynthesis ability are distinctly differenct from the neighbouring four genera (Table S8) [66–78].…”
