Abstract: Many biosynthetic enzymes involved in the production of ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides (RiPPs) in prokaryotic organisms often possess two distinct functional parts: (1) the RiPP precursor peptide recognition element (RRE) and (2) the catalytic domain.
