Abstract:Introduction and Aim: Chronic hyperglycemia in diabetes causes cellular damage through increased lipid peroxidation and reduced levels of antioxidants. The activities of membrane-bound enzymes are affected by oxidative stress. Taurine, a sulfur containing amino acid is shown to have hypoglycemic activity, antioxidant property and membrane stabilization. The aim of the study is to check the effect of supplementation of taurine on lipid peroxidation, antioxidant status and hepatic membrane-bound enzymes in strep… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
