Tax Evasion Dynamics and Zaklan Model on Opinion-Dependent Network

Abstract: Within the context of agent-based Monte-Carlo simulations, we study the well-known majority-vote model (MVM) with noise applied to tax evasion on Stauffer-Hohnisch-Pittnauer (SHP) networks. To control the fluctuations for tax evasion in the economics model proposed by Zaklan, MVM is applied in the neighborhood of the critical noise q c to evolve the Zaklan model. The Zaklan model had been studied recently using the equilibrium Ising model. Here we show that the Zaklan model is robust because this can be studie… Show more

“…Their results are in good agreement with analytical and experimental results obtained by [14]. In this work we show that the Zaklan model of tax evasiom is very robust because we use a nonequilibrium dynamics (MVM) to simulate the Zaklan model, with results similar to equilibrium dynamics (Ising model) [3,4], and also on various topologies [13]. Also here we found the plausible result that tax evasion is diminished by higher audit probability p and stronger punishment k.…”

“…Here, we follow the same steps we did in a previous work [13]. Therefore, we first will present the baseline case k = 0 and p = 0.0%, i.e., no use of enforcement, at q = 0.80q c and with N = 367 (n = 7) sites for ANs.…”

“…Then, it is reasonable to expect that a non-equilibrium model (MVM) explains better events of non-equilibrium. In order to show that the problem of tax evasion fluctuations is better described by a non-equilibrium model than by an equilibrium model, Lima [14][15][16][17] (2010 to 2016) studied the ZM on Apollonian, Opinion-Dependent, Solomon, and Small-World Networks. In all these cases the tax evasion problem was analyzed using the two-state version of MVM, where the honest agent was rated +1 and the evaded value −1.…”
