“…Thus, it is plausible that RLS's influence extends to the inferior temporal gyrus, rendering migraine patients with RLS more susceptible to visual aura. This aligns with prior research by Kijima Y et al, wherein they reported higher RLS grades in the migraine group with frequent visual aura compared to those with episodic visual aura or no visual aura (Kijima Y et al, 2015). Consequently, our study further supports the association between RLS and migraine, viewed through the lens of brain function.…”

“…A large number of observational studies have shown that the prevalence of PFO in people with migraine aura is higher than that in the general population [ 19 ]. Interestingly, in 2015, Kijima et al found that there was a positive correlation between the flow of PFO and the frequency of visual aura [ 20 ]. Furthermore, the presence of RLS is related to the onset age of migraine with aura [ 21 ].…”

“…A hundred and forty two migraine patients were divided into (i) frequent aura group (number of visual aura >50% of frequency of headaches) and (ii) accidental aura group (number of visual aura <50% of frequency of headaches). The results showed that migraine patients with frequent visual aura suffered a higher degree of RLS, and the symptoms improved after PFO closure ( 37 ). The high prevalence of PFO in chronic migraine patients do not indicate that PFO tend to stimulate chronic headaches, but still is associated with the number of migraine attacks, especially for large, high grade shunts.…”
