[Te6N8(TeCl4)4] – durch Tellurtetrachlorid stabilisiertes Tellurnitrid

Abstract: Abgeschirmt durch vier TeCl4‐Moleküle ist das verzerrt rhombendodekaedrische Kerngerüst des Tellurnitrids Te6N8 (Struktur siehe Bild). Mit der Aufklärung dieser Struktur ist nun auch die Zusammensetzung des vor 100 Jahren entdeckten, brisanten Tellurnitrids entschieden. Durch den Abschirmungseffekt geht der explosive Charakter des Nitrids verloren.

Brisantes Material: Beschrieben wird die Synthese von Te(N3)4 in Form eines extrem stoßempfindlichen Festkörpers aus TeF4 und Me3SiN3 sowie die Azidierung des Pentafluorotellurat(IV)‐ zum Pentaazidotellurat(IV)‐Anion. Die Struktur einzelner, durch Te⋅⋅⋅N‐Wechselwirkungen verbundener [Te(N3)5]−‐Einheiten im Pyridiniumsalz [pyH][Te(N3)5] weicht deutlich von der idealen quadratisch‐planaren Symmetrie ab (siehe Bild).

Schwarz, Rot, Gold: Die Reaktion von SeF4 mit Me3SiN3 bei niedrigen Temperaturen führt zur Bildung des ersten binären Selen(IV)‐azids Se(N3)4. Die Zersetzung im NMR‐Röhrchen zeigt die Farben von grauem Selen, rotem Selen und dem gewünschten gelben Selentetraazid. Die Reaktionen von [SeF5]− und [SeF6]2− mit Me3SiN3 liefern die entsprechenden Polyazidoselenite [Se(N3)5]− und [Se(N3)6]2−. Alle Verbindungen sind extrem temperaturempfindlich.

Very sensitive materials: Tellurium tetraazide, Te(N3)4, was prepared directly from TeF4 and Me3SiN3 as an extremely sensitive solid; azidation of a pentafluorotellurate(IV) anion gave the pentaazidotellurate(IV) anion. The crystal structure of the pyridinium salt [pyH][Te(N3)5] consists of [Te(N3)5]− units, considerably distorted from ideal square‐pyramidal symmetry, that are linked through Te⋅⋅⋅N interactions (see picture).
