“…Firstly, these findings suggest that cultivating or enhancing perseverance among DE students from the first or second year onwards could prove fruitful in improving ultimate qualification completion. This could take the form of including activities into support programmes aimed at developing a growth mindset, which has been linked to higher levels of grit (Hacisalihoglu, Stephens, Stephens, Johnson, & Edington, 2020;Kaya & Yuksel, 2022;Mas, Adi, & Amawidyati, 2023). First-year experience programmes are an ideal space, in the researchers' opinion, to host such activities as it would form part of the orientation to the institution and HE.…”
