This study aims to investigate the improvement in students' speaking skill after implementing comic strips as a learning media. The subjects of this study were seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Surabaya, totaling 35 students in a class. This research was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was carried out in two cycles. The researcher conducted the Pre-Cycle before implementing the comic strip. There were four phases carried out in cycle 1 and cycle 2: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The difference occurred in the implementation of cycle 2. Observation and speaking practice tests were two methods the researchers used to collect data in this study. The KKM in English subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Surabaya is 85. The results of this study showed that there were 10 students, or 28.5% of students, who achieved test scores above the KKM. In cycle 1, there were 23 students, or 65.7% of students, who passed the KKM, and in cycle 2 there were 30 students, or 85.7% of students in class VII B, who scored above the KKM. Thus, comic strips are effective in improving students' speaking skills.

The Influence of Digital Comics in Teaching Grammar for EFL Students during the COVID-19 Pandemic

This research aims to identify the influence of digital comic media on EFL students' grammatical knowledge during the COVID-19 pandemic. The approach used in this research is quantitative which data collection techniques used pre-test, treatment, and post-test. This research used 21 students of class VIII-C as research subjects at MTs Maarif NU Ngaban academic year 2021-2022. The results of this study showed mean score on student learning outcomes increased by 61,4%. Moreover, the results of hypothesis testing show the value of Sig. (2-tailed) was 0,000 < 0,005, so H0 is rejected. This means that the results of the research show that there is a significant impact on the use of digital comics as a medium for teaching grammar at MTs Maarif NU Ngaban academic year 2021-2022.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of employing podcast content and translation to improve reading, listening, and speaking abilities. An analysis using a mix of methods was developed to address such a query. To address such an issue, a treatment has to be administered. In the tenth grade of high school, there were ten students. For the lesson, the students used books with podcasts and translation-method content. To improve students' reading and listening abilities, the teacher began using podcasts. The teacher used translation to make understanding easier. The teacher instructed the students in grammar by taking the text's message to heart. In order to improve students' speaking abilities, the teacher also taught retelling, explaining pictures, and discussion. Pre and post tests were administered as part of the treatment. An assessment rubric was utilized to evaluate the pre-test and post-test. Analysis was done on the pre-test and post-test results. It is possible to conclude from the analysis of this type of result that the use of podcasts and translation to improve reading and listening comprehension and speak more fluently is successful. This outcome can be used by the teachers to teach the pertinent subjects. It can also be developed for comparable applications by other researchers.
