Technical and Financial Analysis of Photovoltaic Water Pumping System for GORGAN, IRAN

Abstract: Because of human need for energy, extra special attention is in the usage of renewable-energy sources in recent years. On the other hand, environmental pollution is created with fossil energy. Photovoltaic (PV) energy is also one of the renewable-energy sources that are available in almost all parts of the globe, especially in Iran. One application of this energy is in water pumping system. In this paper, we precede the technical and financial study on photovoltaic water pumping system for irrigation of GORGAN… Show more

“…However, an Iranian investigation concluded that about 75% of total energy (both direct and indirect) for producing alfalfa was from electricity used to pump water from deep wells (Mobtaker et al, 2012). Recently, Rezae and Gholamian (2013) tested a new photovoltaic water pump system in Gorgan, Iran. They indicated that by using solar energy, 1800 L less diesel was burnt each year and the financial return was 6 years.…”

“…By considering 20 years as lifetime of PV systems, a large amount of gasoline will not be consumed. In another similar study, Rezae and Gholamian [27] had done an investigation using RETScreen software on PVWPS for irrigation purpose. The case study was Gorgan farm, Iran.…”
