The problem of speeding up and reducing cost of road construction without sacrificing their quality can be solved by creating a complex of units of continuous operation. The aggregates, in sequence, carry out the whole complex of works aimed at road construction. The use of satellite navigation opens up broad prospects for full automation of the aggregates, so the overall goal is to create a complex of aggregates that carry out the continuous construction of roads, mainly in automatic mode. One of the devices which are part of the units of continuous operation is a bucket wheel type agitator. The use of direct-flow rotary rippers for soil development is restrained by insufficient theoretical justification of their parameters. Before analyzing the interaction of the elements of bucket wheel type agitator with the ground, it is necessary to clarify the design layout of the bucket wheel type rotor. Some design parameters of the bucket-wheel type agitator are derived from logical reasoning. Other parameters of a bucket wheel type agitator are obtained by plotting the impact of the blade on the ground in the plane and spatial simulation. The conclusion about the necessity to install a small rotor in addition to the large rotor coaxially with it has been drawn from here. The feed to the end-knife, i.e., the thickness of the layer cut by the end-knife, has been determined. Based on the adopted methodology, the geometric and operating parameters of a large bucket wheel type agitator rotor have been determined. Maximum small radius of circumferential and end knives of the big rotor is established. To excavate near the rotational axis of the bucket-wheel type agitator, a small rotor with a higher angular velocity must be installed in coaxial alignment.

Mathematical modelling is used to assess the influence of various factors on the result of soil compaction with a vibratory roller. Verification of the mathematical model is carried out by comparing it with the results of experimental studies. Expanding the list of roller models in the experimental studies allows expanding the range of conditions for verification of the mathematical model. The paper presents the results of experimental studies of soil compaction by a vibratory roller BOMAG BW 226 BVC-5. Data on the change in the value of the dynamic deformation modulus of the Evd soil were obtained in relation to the number of roller passes during the compaction of the sand-gravel mixture with a layer thickness of 0.5 m. The peculiarities are revealed, which is reasonable to consider when carrying out further experimental research. Experimental studies of the range of vertical movements of the drum, as well as vertical accelerations of the drum and its frame, were performed on a BOMAG BW 226 BVC-5 vibrating roller during compaction of the sand-gravel mixture. The compaction result after each pass was evaluated using the value of the dynamic deformation modulus Evd, measured using a ZORN ZFG 3.0 dynamic loading unit. In the experiment, the vertical movements of the vibrating roll were recorded using a BAUMER OADM 13U6480/S35A laser sensor. The accelerations of the vibrating roll and the roll frame were recorded using piezoelectric accelerometers of models AR2099-100 and AR99-100. When processing the readings of the sensors, digital signal processing technology was used - low-pass filters with the boundary frequency of 200 Hz. The research was carried out at two sites with different soil moisture conditions. The results obtained show that the oscillation range of the roll as well as the amplitude values of vertical accelerations of the roll and the frame of the roll increase slightly with increasing soil deformation modulus Evd. The results of this experiment correlate with the research conducted on roller models. The results of the experiment will help to further verify the mathematical model of the roller and to carry out experimental studies of a similar nature.

The petroleum industry is a key component of the Russian Federation economy. A large number of reservoirs are used for oil storage, each of which needs timely repair. According to the research results almost half of the accidents are caused by excessive irregularity of reservoir settlement, which causes their premature failure. In order to restore the faultless and serviceable condition of the tanks, it is necessary to carry out repair works, the quality and efficiency of which depends on the used repair equipment. The actual problem is the substantiation of the choice of equipment for repair of tanks, in particular steel tanks of vertical type. The review of different types of tanks was carried out and it showed that vertical steel tanks are the most widespread. One of the ways to eliminate uneven tank settlement is to lift the tank with the help of jacks and form a new base with the removal of the slope. The process of repairing a vertical steel reservoir with a volume of 10000 m3 was considered. The values of the tank mass when filled with liquid petroleum products at 1% of the maximum filling capacity have been obtained. The load value on one lifting device was obtained. The design of the structure of the device and the strength calculation in the program Compass 3D were performed. The most effective type of hoist was determined from the existing ones, and its design was upgraded. The strength calculation showed that the hydraulic elevator is operable under the given conditions.
