“…No automatic features were activated but modest compression for high level sounds was used in some patients, decided in the interaction between the patient and the operator. A more detailed description of the digital signal processor used can be found in Taghavi et al (2015). All patients were provided with up to four programmes with different frequency characteristics to be tested in various listening situations.…”

“…However, the present BCI design is just the first generation of direct bone drive transcutaneous induction devices and future power models may be expected to offer additional maximum output and other prescription rules allowing for a more sophisticated use of compression. Theoretically, 6 dB increased maximum force level output may be achieved by using a full bridge instead of the present half bridge power stage as used today (Taghavi et al 2015).…”

“…The BCI Best Transducer (Oticon Company, Figure 17) consists of an external audio-processor and the implant called Bridging Bone Conductor, a magnet, the receiver coil, and the transducer. The units communicate via an inductive connection through the intact skin [128], [129]. Advantages: MRI compatible to 1.5 T.…”

“…The bone conduction implant (BCI) is an active transcutaneous BCD and consists of an implanted part including the receiver coil, the retention magnet and the transducer, and an audio processor, which is retained on the skin by magnetic force [Hakansson et al, 2010;Taghavi et al, 2015] (Fig. 1).…”
