Technical Note. The Comprehensive Research of the Road Acoustic Screen with Absorbing and Diffusing Surface

Abstract: The paper presents the new solution to a road acoustic screen consisting of elements which are highly diffusing and simultaneously resistant to weathering, but also characterised by a sound absorption. There is described the comprehensive research of such the road acoustic screen with absorbing and diffusing surface. The study includes screen's resistance to wind load and snow removal, impact tests and measurements of some acoustic parameters.

“…Substituting a reflective barrier placed 1 m far from a railway with an absorptive one could improve IL up to 6-10 dB [20]. Placing a Schroeder diffuser on the surface of an extruded-PVC acoustic barrier could improve the IL in almost all frequencies between 315 Hz and 8000 Hz [21].…”

“…seals, on the acoustic parameters of the screen. And in the work (Kamisiński et al, 2015), the authors presented novel solutions of sound diffusing screens resistant to atmospheric conditions. The weathering effects which have influence on the efficiency of the screen were also investigated in the work (Watts, 2000).…”
