“…M. rosebergii, M. idella, M. striatum, M. equidens, M. scabriculum and M. rude (Deepak, Nidhin, Anil Kumar, Pradeep, & Harikrishnan, 2015;Sureshkumar, 1998). M. rosenbergii and M. idella supported lucrative fishery while other species recorded only sporadic occurrence in fishery (Harikrishnan, 1997;Harikrishnan & Kurup, 2001;Kurup, Sebastian, Sankaran, & Rabindranath, 1992;Raman, 1967). Vembanad Lake and its confluent rivers (9°28' and 10°10'N and 76°13' and 31'E) serve as the natural abode for M. rosenbergii, and this species is reported as a true denizen of Kuttanad region, S. India) and locally known as 'Kuttanadan Konju'.…”
