Techniques for static handwriting trajectory recovery

Abstract: On-line handwriting recognition systems are usually better than their off-line counterparts thanks to the accessibility to dynamic information such as stroke order, velocity, acceleration, and pressure. Whilst the exact value of velocity as well as acceleration or pressure is unlikely to be recoverable, the temporal order of the strokes or the pen trajectory is shown to be more promising for recovery. The experimental results reported in the literature suggest that the recovered pen trajectory actually improve… Show more

“…A recovery scheme of drawing order of handwritten letters after generating several paths and the best path is selected [23]. A survey to recover pen trajectories multiple approaches to recover drawing order as skeleton, contours, ambiguous zones detections and ambiguous zones analysis are discussed [17]. A study based on matching cost function that is the summation of positional distortions cost and directional difference cost between the template stroke and its matching path.…”

“…This makes thinning results of offline handwriting character become far different from human handwriting. In the comprehensive survey [5], the general idea of trajectory recovery problem always includes the ambiguous zone detection step which deal with distortion around the junction points of the original character. In order to solve this problem, most of the approaches [6]- [8], start at correct junction point from skeleton character.…”
