“…Across the Hornocal fault, the Salta Group thickness changes. Its hanging wall contains >2,000 m of syn‐rift strata (McBride, 2008), whereas the footwall only shows a condensed post‐rift succession (Kocks, 1999; Siks & Horton, 2011), characteristic of an extensional basin‐bounding fault (e.g., Horton & Folguera, 2022). The Cianzo syncline (Figures 1b and 2) is located in the hanging wall of the Hornocal fault (Amengual & Zanettini, 1973).…”

“…Furthermore, the sharp bend in the overall trend of the gravity high at about 9.1°S and 70.2°W causes a change to the WNW trend south of 9.1°S (Figure 4a, numbers 3, 4 and 5) and the gravity low showing a WNW trend that breaks the main gravity high between 9°S and 10°S, near 68°W (Figure 4a, number 5), reinforce the interpretation that the positioning of the Iquitos Arch in the Acre Basin is controlled by old structures. This association inherent to the inboard advance of Andean deformation within continental plate interiors is largely related to inherited properties of preexisting structural anisotropies, which in turn are critical for strain localization in the thrust belt and adjacent foreland Horton & Folguera, 2022). This event is associated with the final separation between Gondwana and Laurasia continents during the Late Jurassic and resulted in expressive deformations and erosions both in the Brazilian basins of Solimões and Acre, as well as in the sub-Andean basins of the Central Andes (Caputo, 1991(Caputo, , 2014Erlich et al, 2018;Jacques, 2003;Mathalone & Montoya, 1995;Zamora & Gil, 2018), being correlated in age with the Nevadan orogeny in Western North America (Erlich et al, 2018;Mathalone & Montoya, 1995;Schweickert et al, 1984;Tobisch et al, 1987).…”
