The Urucum Suite granitoids (Rio Doce region, southeastern Brazil) contains four main facies: megafeldspar granites, deformed medium-to coarse-grained granites, tourmaline, and pegmatitic facies. They intrude both the staurolite-garnet-muscovite-biotite schist of the São Tomé Formation (Rio Doce Group) and the Galiléia metaluminous suite (596 ±4 Ma). Detailed structural studies suggest that the Urucum Suite emplaced during an important dextral strike-slip movement (D 1 phase) of the Brasiliano orogeny (650-450Ma). Modal and chemical mineralogical variations suggest an evolution from the megafeldspar facies to the pegmatitic facies. Whole-rock geochemistry indicates the peraluminous character of the Urucum Suite granitoids, the evolution from the megafeldspar facies granites to pegmatitic facies granites and suggests the syn-collisional character of this suite. U-Pb zircon (582 ± 2 Ma) and monazite (576-573 ± 4Ma) data indicate that the Urucum Suite emplaced during the Brasiliano orogeny. The peraluminous nature of the Suite and isotopic-rich character in the Rb-Sr ( 87 Sr/ 86 Sr = 0.7114 to 0.7165) and Sm-Nd (eNd (T) = -7.4 and -8.2) systems indicate that it formed by partial melting of older intermediate to felsic crustal sources. Based on early Proterozoic model-ages (2.3 to 1.8 Ga) and on 2.0 Ga U-Pb inherited signature, granitoids of the Suite are probably derived from a rocks with a long crustal residence (Transamazonian basement), without extensive mantle contribution.

The Mantiqueira Province represents a series of supracrustal segments of the South-American counterpart formed during the Gondwana Supercontinent agglutination. In this crustal domain, the process of escape tectonics played a conspicuous role, generating important NE-N-Strending lineaments. The oblique component of the motions of the colliding tectonic blocks defined the transpressional character of the main suture zones: Lancinha-Itariri, Cubatão-Arcádia-Areal, Serrinha-Rio Palmital in the Ribeira Belt and Sierra Ballena-Major Gercino in the Dom Feliciano Belt. The process as a whole lasted for ca. 60 Ma, since the initial collision phase until the lateral escape phase predominantly marked by dextral and subordinate sinistral transpressional shear zones. In the Dom Feliciano Belt, southern Brazil and Uruguay, transpressional event at 630-600 Ma is recognized and in the Ribeira Belt, despite less coevally, the transpressional event occurred between 590 and 560 Ma in its northerncentral portion and between ca. 625 and 595 Ma in its central-southern portion. The kinematics of several shear zones with simultaneous movement in opposite directions at their terminations is explained by the sinuosity of these lineaments in relation to a predominantly continuous westward compression.

RESUMO: O Batólito Serra da Água Limpa, divisa dos estados de MinasGerais e São Paulo, está relacionado ao arco magmático da margem ativa do paleocontinente Paranapanema, Faixa Brasília Meridional. Nele ocorrem feições ígneas preservadas e litotipos com foliação tectônica. Aqui são apresentados dados de química mineral, com objetivo de inferir condições de pressão e temperatura reinantes durante e depois da cristalização do batólito. Foram analisados cristais de plagioclásio, anfibólio, biotita e microclina. Temperaturas de cristalização calculadas pelo método de saturação de zircônio em rocha total situam-se entre 863 e 1015ºC. O cál-culo da pressão mostrou valores que variam entre 5 e 6 kbar. Já o cálculo da temperatura apresentou valores distintos ao serem utilizadas análises de núcleos e bordas do anfibólio e do plagioclásio: núcleos com temperaturas mais elevadas de formação, 830 -860ºC, e bordas com temperaturas entre 740 -770ºC. Logo, existem três hipóteses: (A) os valores de temperatura mais altos, obtidos nos núcleos de anfibólio e plagioclásio (830 -860ºC), estariam relacionados à cristalização magmática, enquanto que os obtidos nas bordas (740 -770ºC), estariam associados ao posterior metamorfismo colisional; (B) tanto os núcleos como as bordas dos cristais são produtos do metamorfismo colisional, com ápice entre 830 -860ºC e retrometamorfismo entre 740 -770ºC; e (C) os núcleos e bordas dos cristais de anfibólio e plagioclásio mantiveram suas composições ígneas pré-colisionais preservadas, refletindo o processo de cristalização e consolidação magmática. A primeira hipótese parece a mais provável porque é mais consistente com os dados publicados para a região. PALAVRAS-CHAVE:arco magmático; cristalização ígnea; metamorfismo colisional. ABSTRACT:The Serra da Água Limpa Batholith, that crops out along the boundary of Minas Gerais and São Paulo states, in Brazil, has been interpreted as part of a magmatic arc of the Paranapanema paleocontinent active margin, southern Brasília belt. Locally igneous features are preserved, but tectonic foliation is common. Mineral chemistry microprobe data are presented for plagioclase, amphibole, biotite and K-feldspar. Crystallization temperatures were calculated by the whole rock zircon saturation method, yielding values between 863 and 1015ºC. The pressure was calculated resulting in values in the range from 5 to 6 kbar. Thermometric data yielded two distinct temperature intervals: the cores of minerals rendered temperatures between 830 -860ºC, and the rims from 740 -770ºC. Three hypotheses may be considered: (A) the higher values obtained in the cores are related to magmatic crystallization, whereas the lower ones obtained in the rims represent metamorphism related to continental collision; (B) both cores and rims are metamorphic revealing a metamorphic peak temperature of 830 -860ºC with retrometamorphism in the range 740 -770ºC; (C) cores and rims of amphibole and plagioclase crystals retained their igneous composition and reflect igneous crystallization and subseque...
