Abstract:Teen motherhood involves giving birth and parenting during a woman's teenage years. The experience of teen motherhood changed throughout the twentieth century and in today's society fewer teens are becoming mothers, yet the health, social, and economic disparities for these young women abound. As the conceptualizations of motherhood and parenting shift, the need to better understand the lived experiences of young mothers becomes a salient societal and familial concern.
