Tellurometalates

Abstract: The chemistry of oxometalates and thiometalates was initiated at almost the same time in the early nineteenth century by Berzelius, who synthesized what turned out to be the [PMo^O^]3-1 and [M0S4]2-2 anions. Since then, research in oxometalates has progressed steadily,3,4 owing to their remarkable, accessible structural chemistry. Some of these compounds show potential in catalysis6,6 and in medicine.7 The corresponding chemistry of thiometalates has received serious attention Mohammad A. Ansari received hi… Show more

“…90 The burgeoning field of metal chalcogenide cluster chemistry has been extensively reviewed. 91, 92 Although there are vestigial similarities between the polyselenometalates and polytellurometalates on the one hand and the well known polyoxo-and polythio-metalates on the other, it is now clear that the combined effects of decreasing electronegativity and increasing size and covalency down the group ensure substantial dissimilarities in the structures encountered with the heavier congeners. A vast novel and exciting area of structural chemistry is emerging.…”

“…Recently, much attention has been focused on the soluble binary chalcogenides and polychalcogenides which exhibit a great deal of structural diversity due mainly to the variety of catenation and bonding modes of the chalcogen atoms. [1][2][3][4][5] In contrast to the large number of binary chalcogenides, comparatively few ternary chalcogenides were reported. Investigation of the ternary M-As-E (M = transition metals and main-group elements; E = S, Se) systems by using the solventothermal technique has produced several compounds.…”
