“…The main feature of urocyte cytoplasm of M. quadrifasciata pupae is the presence of large amounts of granules with different content and rare cytoplasm organelles, similar to urocytes of termites (Sobotnik et al, 2006; Costa-Leonardo et al, 2013) and cockroaches (Wren, 1991). In addition to urocytes, we found that trophocytes in the fat body of bees also have storage granules with different contents similar to workers and virgin queens of M. bicolor (Paes-de-Oliveira & Cruz-Landim, 2003), and physogastric queens of M. quadrifasciata (Paes-de-Oliveira & Cruz-Landim, 2006), suggesting that urocytes may be modified trophocytes.…”
