“…In our previous paper [13] the temperature (T) dependence of the quasi-homogeneous width G qh of the ZPL corresponding to 7 F 0 2 5 D 0 electronic transition in Sm 2+ -doped sodium borate glasses was studied using spectral hole burning (SHB) and fluorescence line narrowing (FLN) techniques. An anomalous linear T-dependence of G qh (G qh pT) was observed between 30 and 293 K. In the present paper, we renewed our previous interpretation claiming that the thermal broadening mechanism of ZPL has true modulational nature arising from the random shifts of ZPL due to thermally activated fluctuations of the occupation number of long-living SLMs.…”
