Abstract:The swelling dynamics of polymer gels are characterized by the (collective) diffusion coefficient of the polymer network. Here, we measure the temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficients of polymer gels with controlled homogeneous network structures using dynamic light scattering. By developing the procedure for decomposing the diffusion coefficient into mixing and elastic contributions, we find that the elastic contribution is a linear function of the absolute temperature with a significant negative … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
