Template-based modeling methodology of a virtual plant for virtual commissioning

Abstract: This article presents a template-based modeling methodology for the effective construction of a virtual plant that can be used for the virtual commissioning of a programmable logic controller. For virtual commissioning, the corresponding virtual plant, consisting of virtual devices, is required to interact with the input and output symbols of a programmable logic controller. In other words, the behavior of a virtual device should be the same as that of the real device. Conventionally, discrete event systems sp… Show more

“…At this time, it is necessary to consider the efficiency of material flows as well as potential traffic congestions. The design procedure of a manufacturing system is a repetitive decision-making process and should be done by experienced domain experts (Ham et al, 2017;Ko and Park, 2014;Park et al, 2008Park et al, , 2013Xu et al, 2000).…”

“…As the product life cycle is reduced in the continuously changing semiconductor industry, integrated device manufacturing (IDM) companies are facing increasing challenges to handle all demands of the supply chain (Duhovnik et al, 2000; Ko and Park, 2014; Tay and Ho, 2008; Yongxian et al, 2008). To respond to these demands, many IDM plants are switching their capacity to join the foundry business (Chang et al, 2003).…”
