Temporal Analysis of Temperature and Precipitation Trends in Shaheed Benazir Abad Sindh, Pakistan

Abstract: Temperature and precipitation variations have a huge environmental, social and economic impact. This study aims to analyze the temporal variation of temperature and precipitation in Shaheed Benazir Abad district by using the linear regression method, the trend magnitude, the Mann-Kendall test and the Sen’s estimator of slope. The annual precipitation and monthly temperature data of Shaheed Benazir Abad for the period of 1996-2014 are considered. The result shows that the Diurnal temperature range of all months… Show more

“…They concluded elevation-dependent conclusions in the target location, for instance, they noted increasing trend in maximum temperature and precipitation at station with elevation 1500–2800 meters in contrast to elevation less than 1500 meters during 1955–2016. Further studies which investigated variability and trends analysis in the sub-regions of the country include [ 28 30 ].…”

“…Monthly, seasonal and annual trends were assessed using Mann-Kendall trend test (Mann 1945;Kendall 1975) and Sen´s slope estimator (Sen 1968) (2-5). The Mann-Kendall test and Sen's slope estimator are two non-parametric tests and widely applied in various trend detection studies (Chattopadhyay and Edwards 2016;Asfaw et al 2017;Hamza et al 2017;Palaniswami and Muthiah 2018;Samo et al 2017).…”
