“…Participants were instructed to abstain from alcohol, caffeine, smoking, and vaping for a minimum of 8 hours prior to commencement of data collection. Additionally, participants refrained from exercise for at least 4 hours before data collection, as previous research has shown this to be a sufficient time frame for the recovery of NVC response (Burma et al, 2021 ). All protocols were thoroughly explained to participants and any questions were answered prior to the commencement of the study.…”

“…All testing occurred over the course of a single laboratory visit in a highly controlled testing environment within the Cerebrovascular Concussion Laboratory at the University of Calgary. All testings were completed within the normal workday for all individuals, which previous research has shown NVC metrics are nominally impacted by diurnal variation during this time period (Burma et al, 2021 ). The elevation of the laboratory was 1,111 meter above sea level.…”

“…This study represents a secondary analysis of a larger study, which aimed at examining the post-exercise effects of moderate-intensity continuous and high-intensity interval trainings on autonomic function indices, 29 cerebrovascular (neurovascular coupling 30 , cerebrovascular reactivity to CO 2 31 , dCA 32 and variation pertaining to dCA 14 ), and oculomotor 33 functions. Importantly, data included in this secondary analysis are from the control condition of these experiments, which did not include an exercise component.…”
